What is the xbox?

The original xbox is a 6th generation gaming console produced by Microsoft. In north America, it was released on 15th November, 2001 and features a custom Intel x86 CPU running at 733MHz, a custom Nvidia NV2A graphics adapter running at 233 MHz, 64 MB of DDR SDRAM and, a first among gaming consoles, an 8 GB hard disk at 5400 RPM. It was Microsoft's first serious sortie in to the game console market and although it sold close to 25 million units worldwide, the xbox did not threaten Sony's market dominance with its PlayStation 2 product. Other sixth geneaiton gaming consoles include: the Sony PlayStation 2, Nintendo's Game Cube and Sega's Dreamcast.

What is the xbox 360?

The xbox 360 is the successor to the xbox and is a 7th generation gaming console. In north America, it was launched on 22nd November, 2005 and features a 3.2GHz IBM Xenon CPU, a custom ATI graphics adapter at 500 MHz and 512 MB of GDDR3 running at 700 MHz. Launched ahead of its major 7th generation competitors, the xbox 360 sold well with 20 million units shipping worldwide by the end of the first quarter of 2008. Other seventh generation gaming consoles include: the Sony PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii.
