2008.07.24 In its ongoing push to make the Xbox a full blown entertainment media delivery system, Microsoft is working to produce its own series of digital short films for delivery over Xbox Live. Microsoft said earlier this week that it is working with Safron Digital Group to produce exclusive media for free delivery to Xbox Live subscribers, and the 10 minute HD shorts will be directed by horror directors. Sony is also thought to be looking in to similar distribution options over its PSN, and could potentially couple with the company's renowned TV and movie arm.
2008.07.17 Microsoft seek greater social networking element to future Xbox. At the E3 video gaming conference in Los Angeles this week, Microsoft showcased a snappy three-dimensional Windows Vista style interface, Xbox Experience, thought to be in development for their next generation gaming console, but also to be made available for the current Xbox product in a software update to be released later this year. Users will be able to develop their own avatar-based character for their console and used in Xbox Live services. Microsoft also continued its push to make the Xbox a multi-dimensional entertainment center, announcing impending content deals with NetFlix and some television networks.
